In the field of hospitality management, having a degree is not important. A high school diploma is all that is required for positions at entry level, like concierge. But, a degree in the field is required for providing higher positions. There are four hospitality management courses to provide degrees to the trainees:
- Associate Degree
- Bachelor Degree
- Master Degree
- Doctorate Degree
Eligibility for bachelor’s degree is having a 10+2 (with English as a subject) certificate along with Joint Entrance Examination(JEE) scorecard. The minimum selection criteria for bachelor hospitality management course is 50 per cent marks in +2. Some institutes conduct entrance examinations before selecting the candidates for these degrees.
Scope in Future
Professionals in hospitality management can work in different sectors, like catering, entertainment and leisure, tourism, events management, facilities management etc. And these are the ones which have been experiencing the exponential nourishment throughout all these development years, with 12.3 million people employed. And are sure to witness more in future.As far as the salary is concerned, people in these jobs are paid as much as the ones in other sectors, and the ones at higher posts are paid much more than many engineers and doctors.
